Welcome to Eiken Sparks!

Hi, my name is Raffin Unson. I am an educator with over 11 years of teaching experience in Japan, working with international families and Japanese learners across multiple age groups. I travel regularly between Japan, the United States, and the Philippines, which allows me to bring a global and culturally responsive approach to English education.

I have taught in international schools, community English lounges, and have organized and led English summer camps, giving me extensive experience in both formal and community-based learning environments. I teach Eiken both online and in person, allowing students to learn in a format that best fits their schedule and learning style.

My specialization is Eiken preparation, and my teaching philosophy goes beyond rote memorization. I focus on long-term retention, confidence building, and practical language use by combining proven ESL methods I have used with international students worldwide. Lessons are structured yet flexible, adapting to each learner’s level, pace, and learning style.

I also integrate music-based learning into my English and Eiken programs when appropriate. This approach helps students improve pronunciation, listening skills, and natural sentence flow while making learning more engaging and enjoyable.

My ESL experience extends beyond Japan to other non-English-speaking countries, giving me a broad understanding of common challenges faced by English learners. Many of my Eiken students are beginners, as well as returning students from overseas studies.

The results I see from my students are consistently positive after taking their exams. Many of them not only pass Eiken but also continue with other English programs I offer beyond Eiken, reflecting both their progress and confidence in learning.

At Eiken Sparks, the goal is not only to pass the test, but to develop real English skills, confidence, and a love for learning that lasts beyond the exam.

Let’s spark your Eiken journey together.
