Welcome, Trojan!

You are here because you have joined the American Diploma Pathway (ADP) program — and as a Greenville High School (GHS) student, you are officially a Trojan.
We are excited to help you grow your skills and unlock your strongest English voice.

Your journey to success begins here!

As you begin your pathway toward earning a U.S. public high school diploma, one skill will shape your entire experience: confident, real-life English communication.

Because to truly succeed, you need confidence.
You need your voice.
You need English that works in real life.

That’s exactly the foundation the American English Pathway (AEP) provides — helping you communicate naturally and thrive in every environment you enter.

ADP Year 1 — Getting Oriented to U.S. School Life

In your first year of ADP, everything is new — U.S.-style assignments, coursework, expectations from teachers, how to submit work, how to participate, and what “critical thinking” really means in an American classroom.
This year is about learning the system, building good study habits, understanding grading, and becoming comfortable in the U.S. school environment.

How AEP Junior Supports Year 1

AEP Junior gives you the entry-level English skills you need to make ADP feel natural, not overwhelming.

You’ll learn to:

- understand simple classroom instructions

- speak and participate without fear

- follow basic lesson content with more confidence

- get used to American-style communication and class culture

AEP Junior brings the U.S. classroom to life, helping you settle into ADP quickly and comfortably.

ADP Year 2 — Building Academic Skills & Independence

By Year 2, you’re no longer just “adjusting” — now you’re expected to perform.
Assignments become deeper, teachers expect stronger written answers, and you’re required to analyze, explain, and express your thinking clearly.
This year is about academic independence: managing deadlines, understanding expectations, and producing more complex work.

How AEP Bridge Supports Year 2

AEP Bridge is designed exactly for this stage.

It helps you:

- expand your vocabulary for academic topics

- speak more fluently and clearly during discussions

- understand longer, more detailed content

- produce structured answers and short presentations

- collaborate with classmates in meaningful ways

AEP Bridge strengthens the communication skills you need to succeed academically, not just complete assignments.

ADP Year 3 — Thinking Like a U.S. High School Student

Year 3 is where everything starts to click.
You’re expected to think critically, participate as a real member of the class, and express your own ideas with confidence.
This stage prepares you for college-style work: discussions, essays, reflections, and real intellectual engagement.

You’re no longer learning how American school works — you’re now acting like an American student.

AEP Beyond — Mastering Academic Communication for University Success

AEP Beyond is designed for high-achieving students who want to go further than strong English — they want academic English.
It prepares you for the types of communication that define college success:
clear writing, critical thinking, structured argumentation, and the ability to express complex ideas with confidence and precision.

This course is your bridge from high school English to the language of university classrooms.

Project-Based Learning: Demonstrating Real Progress

Every four classes, AEP students complete a Mini-Project—a short activity that lets them use what they’ve learned in a real, creative way. These projects are fun, simple, and give teachers valuable insight into each student’s development.

Examples include:

introducing their American “anchor character,”
describing their daily routine using new vocabulary,
creating a short reading response,
or sharing something they learned about American life.

At the end of each module, students complete a larger project, often over 1–4 classes.
This is a chance for them to show:
how much vocabulary they retained,
how well they understand the theme,
how confidently they can speak or write,
and how independently they can use strategies learned in class.

For teachers, these projects are an authentic assessment tool.
For students, they are motivating milestones that make learning visible.
Project work is included in the AEP Progress Assessment and is one of the most reliable ways we track growth in speaking, writing, comprehension, and metacognition.
